Obama's Solution to the Gulf Oil Spill: Prayer

I recorded President Obama's historic speech from the Oval Office because I was in a foul mood when it aired after a stressful day. I just finished watching it. I found it quite disappointing. Rather than demonstrating leadership, offering a way forward, asking for sacrifice from the public, pushing the Senate to pass the alternative energy policy we desperately need, convincing us that steps are being taken to prevent this from happening again, or any number of other needed measures, he largely talked in naive generalities. The central message seemed to be that we will triumph over this oil spill but nobody has any idea how. And then, there was the drivel about prayer at the end of the speech.

No, I'm not talking about the ridiculous "god bless the United States of America" line which he dutifully delivered at the end. If you watched the speech, you already know that President Obama spent the last couple minutes of his long overdue address suggesting that prayer was the way forward (you can read it at Secular Left).
