I don't think the recession is over just yet, but I might be wrong. After all, people seem to have enough money that they are perfectly willing to throw it away at church. I know, I know! Many churches do lots of wonderful things in their communities. I do recognize that.
Of course, there often seem to be strings attached when they do so. One could reasonably accuse many of these churches as using the aid they provide as a way to prey on the vulnerable among us.
I disagree with those in the Republican Tea Party who seek to abolish government assistance and rely on the churches for everything. As far as I'm concerned, someone who is hungry ought to be able to find a meal without having to listen to religious drivel. Haven't they endured enough already?
