Image via WikipediaGiven that both houses of Congress have Democratic majorities, I was disappointed to see the Senate end the ban on offshore drilling to appease President Bush. Of course, I suspect that their real motive was more about pandering to the millions of Americans who are ill informed about the relationship between offshore drilling and gas prices. Yet again, we see why promoting science, education, and reason are worthy goals. When people believe falsehoods, politicians have little choice but to cater to misinformation. Now we just have to wait and see what the first big oil spill is going to do for tourism along our America's coasts. Yuck.
